Not happy with the flat cable interface jack provided on the AR8000 radio I decided to modify mine. Anyone who owns this fine radio and uses the flat cable interface knows of the limitations. This mod is not recommended for the weak of heart !
The mounting of a rj11 6 pin telco jack on the top
right corner of the radio can be seen in this photo.
I chose this type of jack because of the versitility
and availability of components. I guess you
could use a PS2 type connector or others but ,
this is what I had on hand. The position of the jack
on the top takes the advantage of being able to
leave the leather case on while the cable is plugged
in (no more need to remove the battery case cover too).
